April 24, 1999 | Dear Diary, "Passages" comes to mind as I think about the events of the past few days. As I go through another passage in my life, so do my sons. My oldest will be going to college this time next year and my youngest will probably want to live with his father after his BRO is gone. I look back on the time that has passed and I wonder where has it all gone? Just yesterday they were but little helpless people in my arms. Depending on my caring, nuturing and fullfilling every need. Well, I now have the pleasure of seeing my work near completion on helping them through their passages of life. My mother told me once "That as parents, it is our responsibility to build the foundation, it is our children's responsibility to build their houses." As I see my son's house shake and the walls rattle, I want to rush over and hold them up. I know if I were to do that I would only be hurting them and not letting them rely upon themselves to learn life's lessons and gain life tools. I am so blessed to have such fine young men and a good life. And I am grateful for all my loving and supportive friends who help me through my "Passages" of life.
